Campus Computing History

Enterprise-Ozark Community College has been “computing” since the early days of the college, however the campus wide networking effort at Enterprise State Junior College began in 1997.  The primary student information systems are housed on an IBM AS400, a midrange computer system, which is connected to the main LAN.  The first phase of the network was completed in January of 1998 which allowed for all faculty and staff computers and labs to access the network and the Internet.  During 1998-1999 all classrooms and the Ft. Rucker Site were wired into the network.  Portable classroom devices could then be accommodated in any classroom on campus.  At this point in time the college houses 17 labs at the Enterprise Campus, 2 labs at the Ft. Rucker site, 3 labs at the Ozark Campus and 1 lab at the Mobile Site.  We provide email accounts for approximately 150 employees and maintain approximately 600 desktop computers. Approximately fifty laptops are available for various department and division employees to use in the classroom or while traveling.  Twenty networked printers are available in labs and other locations on campus.  Thirteen servers currently provide the services offered on the LAN.  In addition we provide video conferencing capability with accommodation for 35 people.
