Q:  How long will it take to complete the program?

A:  If a student attends full-time, the program will take two years to complete.

Q:  How much will it cost?

A:  Refer to the program cost sheet.  In-state tuition to complete the Aviation Maintenance Technology curriculum is $6,930.  To pursue an Associate of Applied Science it would cost $8,820 in tuition and a certificate would cost $8,010 in tuition.

Q:  What additional costs are associated with the program?

A:  Refer to program cost sheet.  Costs of books are approximately $500 for technical books and $640 for academic books.  Cost of tools is approximately $2,200.  Costs of additional testing are $210 for the FAA Written exam and $400 for the Oral and Practical exam.  Costs of graduation materials are $35 for the cap and gown and $15 for the diploma.

Q:  Do you offer both day and night classes?

A:  Yes.

Q:  What time are the classes?

A:  During the day, the classes meet from 7:00 a.m. until approximately 1:45 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 7:00 a.m. until approximately 9:45 a.m. on Friday.  If a student attends full time during the night, the can expect to be in class from 4:00 p.m. until 10:45 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 4:00 p.m. until approximately 6:45 p.m. on Friday.

Q:  May I attend part-time?

A:  Yes.  Many of our students attend part-time.  A part-time student usually takes one or two classes in the Spring and Fall semesters and one class during the Summer semester.

Q:  When may I start?

A:  You may begin the program during any semester.  Refer to the AMT Course Progression Sheet.

Q:  What is the job market outlook?

A:  Local demand is high for FAA Airframe and Powerplant certified technicians and is expected to increase steadily in the near future.

Q:  How much money will I make when I graduate?

A:  Locally, FAA Airframe and Powerplant certified technicians may earn a starting salary of approximately $18.50 an hour.  The U.S. Department of Labor indicates that the median hourly earnings of aircraft mechanics were about $20.71 in 2002 with the middle 50% earning between $16.94 and $25.23.
