Western Civilization II is
an online course offered by Enterprise-Ozark Community College and taught
by Instructor Sam Covington of the Division of History and Social Sciences.
If this is your first Internet course you must realize that this type
of course is not easy. It requires discipline on your part and you should
be prepared to spend a minimum of 10-12 hours per week on the course.
The course is divided into four units of approximately 4 to 5 chapters
per unit. There will be a test on each unit.
If you enroll in this class,
the most important thing you should do is to navigate completely through
the website “Western Civilization II" to familiarize yourself
with the course setup and with the different links.
On the WebCT course site, I
give a detailed orientation which guides you step-by-step to find the
following pages:
- The” Course Syllabus"
provides information about all aspects of the course including a summary
of the course, the textbook and web site materials for the course, grading
policies, testing procedures, test sites, distance office hours, the
withdrawal policy, academic policies, etc.
- The "Course Suggestions"
page provides extremely useful information on how to study for this
course and how to communicate with the instructor and your fellow classmates.
- The “about the instructor”
page provides information about the instructor for this course.
- The “study notes for
test usage” page explains the note sheet activity and how you
may use a note sheet when you take your tests.
- The “Communication
tools” include e-mail, a message board, course grades, and a chat
room.
- The "course calendar"
outlines what materials you should be studying as you progress through
the course. Also listed are test dates for each unit of material and
other key dates during the semester.
