Workplace Literacy Curriculum Catalog
The Workforce 2000 Partnership combined the resources of educational and industrial partners to provide education and training in communication, computation, and critical thinking skills to employees in the apparel, carpet, and textile industries. The project was funded by a U. S. Department of Education National Workplace Literacy Program grant awarded over three years (1994-97) to Enterprise State Junior College in the amount of $2,243,468 (48%) with committed private sector matching funds of $2,082,471 (52%), bringing the total program resources to $4,325,939. The activities of the Partnership did not necessarily represent the policy of the Department of Education, and you should not assume endorsement by the Federal Government. Participation by the education or industrial partners in the project should also not be construed as endorsement by the Government of any of the partners' products.
The Partnership served line employees and first-line supervisors at 14 plants in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. The curricula developed by the Partnership used materials from the workplace to teach the basic and higher order skills to small groups. Curriculum modules contain a curriculum guide, lesson plans, and handouts. References also may be made to commercially prepared materials. All proprietary materials have been removed.
